Advancing clinical care

The Department of Psychiatry is a national leader in advancing the treatment of psychiatric disorders through clinical research studies. We regularly conduct a number of studies evaluating new methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Such studies may offer eligible participants access to forms of care not yet available elsewhere.

The department is an integral component of Washington University School of Medicine, one of the world’s largest and most respected medical research centers, where quality and safety are a top priority.

Participating in a clinical trial

If you are interested in volunteering as a participant in a clinical trial, please sign up for the Research Participant Registry. In some cases, your WashU Med provider may offer you the opportunity to participate in a trial.
