Research Interests

Dr. Hoyniak’s research focuses on the development of sleep problems in early childhood. Her research explores how sleep and circadian rhythm disturbances contribute to risk for the emergence of psychopathology in early childhood, with a particular focus on mood disorders. Her research also explores the contextual factors that confer risk for sleep disturbances in early childhood. In her research, she uses a combination of psychophysiological (e.g., actigraphy, polysomnography, EEG/ERP) and observational (both in-lab and in-home) data collection.
